CURSO DE NEUROCIRUGÍA 3D: ANATOMÍA DE LA BASEDEL CRÁNEO, ENFOQUES Y TÉCNICAS QUIRÚRGICAS

Agosto 20, 2023. 

La Fundación Universitaria de Ciencias de la Salud fue la sede del curso 3D organizado por la fundación de la federación mundial de neurocirugía y la federación latinoamericana de neurocirugía. Agradecemos al doctor Tito Perilla, a todos los profesores invitados y todos los participantes por su asistencia y hacer posible este curso.

Este es el primer curso de estas características, dirigido principalmente a residentes de neurocirugía, ayudados de la tecnología para poder proyectar imágenes en 3D, favoreciendo el entendimiento de la neuroanatomía aplicada.

Es un orgullo para nuestro programa de neurocirugía contar con la presencia de distinguidos profesores internacionales y de participantes de múltiples países.

NEUROCIRUGÍA FUCS GANA PREMIO MIZUHO POR MEJOR TRABAJO DE CIRUGÍA MÍMIMAMENTE INVASIVA DE TUMORES CEREBRALES EN ESTADOS UNIDOS

Abril 30, 2023. 

En el reciente congreso de la American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), llevado a cabo en la ciudad de Los Angeles, CA, USA, el trabajo llamado "Standardization of Strategies to Perform a Parafascicular Tubular Approach for the Resection of Brain Tumors in Eloquent Areas" fue galardonado con el premio Mizuho. Este trabajo original, llevado a cabo por el residente Nadin Abdala, así como los docentes de ambos hospitales de San José y otros colaboradores internacionales, muestra las estrategias realizadas en nuestras instituciones para resecar tumores en áreas elocuentes. Fallecimiento doctor Jorge Arana Carvalho 

Septiembre 23, 2021. 

Lamentamos profundamente la muerte de nuestro inigualable profesor, compañero y amigo, el doctor Jorge Arana Carvalho. Gracias por todas sus enseñanzas como neurocirujano y como ser humano. Nuestras sinceras condolencias para toda su familia y amigos.

XXIX Colombian National Congress of Neurosurgery -  Neurosurgery Service of the Hospital de San José with First Place in Research work 

March, 2020.  

Neurosurgery residents, as well as teachers of the neurosurgery program of the  FUCS presented  his research works Colombian Congress of Neurosurgery. In this congress, Dr. Edgar Ordóñez obtained the  Federico López Award for Best Work Presented by a Specialist in Neurosurgery at the XXIX Colombian National Congress of Neurosurgery.

Death of Dr. Juan Antonio Becerra Suárez.

We deeply regret the death of our unique teacher, colleague and friend, Dr. Juan Antonio Becerra Suárez. Thank you for all your teachings as a neurosurgeon and as a human being.  Our sincere condolences to all of his family and friends.

Virtual Academic Reviews with FUCS Neurosurgery Residents and Professors

As a result of the SARS-CoV-2 outbreak with the consequent Covid-19 pandemic, academic reviews of the service have been established weekly, which include the service staff of the Hospital de San José and the Hospital Infantil Universitario de San José. Until further notice, revisions will be made continuously  in relation to meningiomas on Thursdays 8pm via Zoom . To connect, ask weekly for the link and the password for the chat through the account at  Instagram @ dr.edgarordonez on the same day of the conference. This conference is given by residents of the Neurosurgery graduate program of the University Foundation for Health Sciences (FUCS). Access is free for health personnel, mainly neurosurgeons, residents, general practitioners and medical students interested in Neurosurgery.

Academic Reviews with Students and Residents

Weekly we do reviews of the most  important neurosurgery with the residents of the specialization program in neurosurgery and with the students of the X semester of the FUCS.

Interinstitutional Magazines

The first Friday of each month the inter-institutional review is carried out at 6 am with all the residents and specialists of the Hospital de San José and the Hospital Infantil Universitario de San José. An academic journal is carried out and a review of a case and topic relevant to the service is carried out.

Practices in the microsurgery laboratory

We perform non-biological and biological microsurgery practices. The FUCS has a laboratory with 3 microscopes, a high-speed motor, and a television connection, including all microsurgical material and instruments. 

Diagnostic Imaging / Neuroradiology

We have state-of-the-art panangiography images, computerized axial tomography (CT)  and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Using the latest resonance techniques such as Tractography, Spectroscopy and Functional Resonance. We work together with Dr. Jorge Marín (diagnostic neuroradiologist) and Dr. Nelson Lobelo (interventional neuroradiologist).
